I accidentally made a purchase on Riot games, but I had no funds in my Paypal account and nothing in my bank balance. So, now I have an NSF charge from my bank. I deal with that and thought that was the end, but yesterday another payment in the same amount came off my bank balance and apparently went to paypal. I can't find the transaction in Paypal, but it does show up on my bank statement - so now I'm $40 further in the hole in my bank account plus I'm worried I'm going to get hit with another huge NSF fee. I really need Paypal to stop trying to take money from my bank account. Any help - or a phone number for Paypal - would be appreciated.

For Instant Transfer bank payments, after the first failed attempt at getting funds, PayPal will try two more times. These attempts won't show on your PayPal Activity as they are part of the same original purchase transaction but they will on your bank because PayPal is making attempts to get paid. Once a bank payment is made the process can't be stopped, not even if your get a refund from the merchant or add funds to your PayPal balance. On the third attempt after the two, PayPal charges your back up payment method (credit card). You best move now is to add enough funds to cover the multiple NSF and the amount for the purchase asap. PayPal stagger these attempts over a 6 day period.
Kudos & Solved are greatly appreciated. 🙂

So I should add the funds to my Paypal, or my bank card? I’ve added enough funds on my bank card to make sure that if I get another $40 request it will be able to be payed and won’t be NSF. But is there any way to prevent the next payment attempt?
