Import taxes in Belgium

An eBay buyer in Belgium purchased a camera from me, Allens-Vintage, in California for $28 and $10.56 shipping. He asked me why he was charged $15.87 import taxes by eBay and who pays that tax. I cannot ship the camera until I can send the buyer an answer. Allen Rountree, Item number: <removed>

Buyer wrote: “The camera price is under the $30 Dollars. Are the $15.87 Dollar taxes to be paid in the USA for export or here for import in Europe? Thank you”

If a buyer is importing items into their own country then they are responsible for any customs duties due by their government.

Tell them that if you go on holiday and buy souvenirs and then have to declare them at customs you wouldn't expect the shop that sold them to you to pay your customs duties would you.
