Safe as in there's no risk in sharing your email address that can be used to process money transactions by Paypal.

The thing is, if it's an unusual large amount of money, the payment might get put "on hold" by Paypal to protect the buyer.

In this case, you can add tracking information on the Paypal platform and once Paypal receives a confirmation that the item was delivered, will release the money. At least that is the theory behind it. But I have an issue right now, that the payment is on hold but my item was already delivered. However the integration between Paypal and Bpost (postal service of Belgium) doesn't seem to work as expected since it remains in a "shipped" status. This while the buyer received his package already on Monday of this week.

So, Paypal is the safest option for both you as a seller, and for the buyer, but depending on the amount of money involved, you might have to practice some patience. If I had known this beforehand, I'd have tried to get an agreement with the buyer on a direct wire transfer instead of Paypal, but that would include more risk from his/her end.
