Money Received, But Doesn't Seem to Be Offsetting My Account Balance

I have a personal PayPal account. A friend successfully posted 2 payments to my account (they show up in the Activity Feed as "Money Received").  The first payment was received on April 30th.  The second payment was received on June 25th.  Since it hasn't yet been 8 days since the second payment, I know that I can't make any determinations as to whether or not the second payment really was credited (is usable) in my account.  However, though the first payment shows as being credited to my account, I can't see where that received money was applied to any of my future purchases.  Any thoughts as to how I can confirm that the money received was actually used to offset my PayPal balance?  The first payment was small, so isn't a big concern.  But the second payment is much larger and I need to make sure the money is actually getting to me (can be used to offset my own purchases via PayPal).  Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for pointing me to that article, but that doesn't seem to be the issue.  I already had a balance of $0 on my account (meaning that my account was already linked to a PayPal Cash account).  But, though the money is marked as Received under Activity, it never seems to get to the Balance where I can use it.  Also, I marked my account to use the Balance first (before my other payment method), but this can't work if the Balance never goes above $0.  Also, on the off chance that the amount transferred to me was applied to my secondary payment method, I checked there, too (and no credit appeared there, either).  Either the reporting is off, the reporting is confusing or there is something wrong (that I haven't yet identified). Finally, my account has been verified (and I recently added a second verified email address, as well, just in case that might help). Does anyone know how to actually confirm that the "received" money has been properly applied (and used to either payoff my PayPal charges or to reduce payments for newer charges)?
