How can I load cash to my account?

Hi I have a PayPal account that was dormant for years because the only way I had to fund it was to swipe a client's card but am typically paid with cash. People tend to distrust card transactions. Earlier this year I discovered the option in the PayPal app to load cash at a retailer by generating a bar code in the app. I successfully loaded cash via this method at a Walmart. With this apparently viable, I applied for and received a PayPal debit card. A month or so later, I visited a Dollar General retailer that provides PayPal cash load and generated a bar code. However... the POS terminal reported "Transaction denied due to suspected fraud" each time we attempted for me to deposit the cash to my PayPal account via that method. PayPal customer service was completely unhelpful, only telling me repeatedly I could load $ by linking a bank account or credit card (which is simply NOT an option to me). Fast forward a couple months of dormant Paypal account. I opened the app to see if anything has changed and had to update the app. Now when I look in the app under "wallet" there isn't even an option to generate a barcode at all, despite PayPal help pages and other people saying there should be. I don't know anyone using an antiquated paper checks to help by me cashing a check via the app. Linking a bank account or card is not an option. People do not like to have me scan their card with PayPal here and it's highly inconvenient even if I could find someone. Local stores apparently don't sell PayPal cash/gift cards anymore. And the option to generate a barcode to deposit cash from a retailer is no longer available? What do I do to deposit cash to my PayPal account? Why previously when the barcode option was still available were the transactions denied "due to suspected fraud" when there had and has been zero suspicious account activity? I have been able to SPEND money from the PayPal account using the debit card but was denied DEPOSITING money via barcode. -J
