How to adjust shipping for multiple items purchased

I currently use PayPal Buttons on our non-profit website to sell items. We now include the cost of the item, tax (if applicable), and a shipping charge. In the past, we did not charge shipping, but with economic headwinds we can no longer afford to absorb that cost our of the price of the item(s). My question has to do with multiple items purchased. If we have more than one item purchased, I would like to adjust shipping costs appropriately since we will combine the items into a single shipment. Is there a way to do this in PayPal Buttons or do we just have to declare a shipping cost for each item and let it stand no mattar how many items the purchaser chooses?
I welcome any suggestions you can make on how best to handle this sales question.

Hello @mithistory,
Welcome to the PayPal Community! I can certainly understand why you would want to combine shipping for your customers. Are you receiving multiple orders and then combining shipping? If so, I might recommend adding an "Add to cart" option to your site. That way they purchase multiple items and their shipping will be calculated at checkout. Here's a Sample HTML Add to Cart Button from our Developer articles.
I hope that helps!
