So PayPal Europe has now had to become PayPal U.K. as the British government are trying to control all financial institutions that offer services in the U.K. . This is a concerted effort to deny British customers the ability to pay in 3 . Even if you have never missed a payment PayPal will remove the option for you based on your credit score . As part of the new regulations PayPal will credit check you . The U.K. government are saying pay in 3 unregulated credit is triggering debt in people who cannot afford to pay . Hello why do you think people choose pay in 3 ? Pay in 3 options led to a massive drop in credit card use as why pay 29% interest on a credit card when Pay in 3 is an option . Klarna did this last year & now PayPal . Hundreds of thousands of people lost the ability to pay in 3 overnight . So I have Zilch & Clearpay whom might I add are working out just fine for now . PayPal just made a huge mistake probably lost half their customers in one fell swoop . So the poor get poorer & the Rich get richer . Same old story of take away the ways to pay no one can afford to play !

Why not just save x3 instalments of funds and then buy the item outright?

Due to the fact that some deals don't last.

Saving over time is not an option as that deal or the product may be gone by the time you have waited and saved

I feel its quite obvious, but some people may need something straight away and dont have the time or necessarily the discipline to save for 3 months.

You are correct , i had used my pay in 3 for many purchases over the last 3 years, totalling 25k , never missed a payment, never returned nothing, yet in September of this year , paypal took this invaluable service away , no reason given, I complained and got no where. All i got from 5 mangers in the uk was my account was in good standing and it will come back. Well it as not and i am closing my paypal account. Disgusting from PayPal

Contact assistance via chat/call, they're amazing and they can tell you if there's any issue with your account or the vendor's options. Sometimes the security system is triggered by the wrong pw or something and they shut everything down for 24h, it can happen. Just ask for assistance.

This also happened to me when trying to use to book a holiday with Ryanair. I think I must have triggered an algorithm because the holiday was just over the £2000 limit (which I didn’t know about) now it’s completely removed from my account which is frustrating because I’ve not once missed a payment, even pay off early most times! If it’s any use to anyone I use clear pay now you have to create an account and they give you a limit (mine is £1000) and it’s over 4 payments not 3 but at least it takes the guesswork out of PayPal’s poorly designed system. I’ve written to Ryanair and Jet 2 advising them of the issue with PayPal and suggest they introduce clear pay, Klarna or one of the many other options there are out there . Advice to PayPal, you need to sort this out, if an algorithm has been triggered you need to let people know and give them a chance to rectify it. Simply leaving us stranded at the checkout will only lose you custom!

Mine is the same. I've been using it for years no problem. Paid all monies due early. Not sure why it's not an option any more.
