Can I cancel a Pending Order?

I recently ordered an item from Argos paying by PayPal. The first attempt at payment resulted in a 'transaction failed' message from the Argos site. The second attempt at payment was successful and now shows as 'completed' however the first payment still shows as 'Pending' on my PayPal account. I have emailed Argos but also wish to cancel the pending transaction on PayPal.

Hi,
I made an order to Newlook and at first it came back as failed so I tried again and it still came up as failed however I then received an email from paypal saying that it had come through however when I came on paypal it said "pending". I thought nothing of it and a day later I went on newlook again and ordered the items again and it worked straight away and came up as "completed" on paypal.
I was just wondering how I could cancel the first order on paypal as it still hasn't gone through and says it is "pending". As the second attempt went through and now says "completed" I would like to cancel the order that says "pending". How do I do this?

Welcome to the PayPal community forum.
An ‘Order’ is an agreement between you and a merchant for a purchase of a specified amount. It is used when a merchant wants to delay taking a payment. The funds are not taken from your account straight away.
For example: The merchant may use the Order feature if they need to check if the item is in stock before taking your payment.
The payment will appear in your account with a status of ‘Pending’ until the merchant completes the order and takes payment. The status will then change to ‘Complete’. If you wish to cancel an order you must contact the merchant to do so. It is not possible to cancel an order from your PayPal account.

Paypal should fix its "help" ... I wanted to cancel a pending payment. Help says to go to history, then order status, then select cancel. No such ability exists. Help is wrong. Where do I go to get my wasted time back?
