I'm encountering an issue while testing in the sandbox as a guest. I’ve tried using the following test cards, but I'm receiving the error message: "Things don't appear to be working at the moment. Please try again later." I'm feeling stuck with my testing

3782 8224 6310 005 - American Express
4111 1111 1111 1111 - Visa

Some of the test cards I generated using the PayPal sandbox card testing tool https://developer.paypal.com/tools/sandbox/card-testing/#link-testcardnumbers  are invalid. However, these two cards are valid but consistently show the same error.

The error message "Things don't appear to be working..." is a generic error message. 
Here are the main reasons that you may be receiving this error message:

  • Merchant Trying to pay themselves, this is considered cash advancing a restricted activity
  • Incorrect Variable
  • Variable with special characters like " or $ in them
  • Setting on the account 
  • Email being used in integration not added or confirmed on your PayPal Account

If you provide the merchant id for your sandbox business account, I can make certain that it has a confirmed email address, as well as review the settings associated with it.

Here is how to find your merchant id in your sandbox business account:

  • Log into the sandbox business account at https://sandbox.paypal.com
  • Go to Account Settings
  • Click on Business information
  • PayPal Merchant ID will display
