Is this a scam email? - Payment Confirmation from PayPal Update

I've received an email this morning from [Removed] with subject heading:

Payment Confirmation from PayPal Update.

The email looks like an invoice from PayPal stating a charge for $599.99 with description of payment as: "Other (MacBook Pro (13.3-inch) – Apple M1 Chip 8-core CPU, Space Gray. Order Placed_ If it is not done by you please call us at [Removed] to cancel and get the charge back. Payment Done With Order Id: REF312418238)"

I have not made any purchases on my PayPal or credit card for a MacBook Pro. There are no associated transactions that I can see on my PayPal account or banks which indicate any charge has been taken from my account at this stage. I have also recently changed my credit card due to a fraudulent charge on my old credit card.

The email itself looks very legitimate, however the phone number in the description does not come from Square.

There is also an Australian Business Number in the invoice which links to a shared office space in Sydney.

I'm therefore skeptical that this is a real invoice, but the email doesn't ask anything of me, other than to contact that number if it is a false/fraudulent charge. I assume if I contact the number, they will try and get my credit card details to "refund" the charge, but thought I would check if anyone has received anything similar.

I've attached the email screenshot below.

Thanks for your help.

@Dissidiaes

Total scam email.

Makes no sense for email be branded with PayPal at the top but at the bottom says copyright 2023 Square AU Pty Ltd which is an entirely different payment processing company.

Forward the email to phishing@paypal.com and delete the email.

Kudos & Solved are greatly appreciated. 🙂
