Paypal has paid a flight ticket that I cancelled and now wants me to pay the money I never paid!!??

 I cancelled the flight with Emirates, but now Paypal want the money they paid to them from me!!  My account is now showing I am in arrears for over 4k even though A:  I had no money in either of my accounts B:  The flight was never booked  C: when it was booked I cancelled, and 😧 No money was ever exchanged!!  I have disputed this but they just won't listen!!  Getting very frustrated!!!!

I am sorry to hear what has happened. I know this must be concerning. When you make a transaction, PayPal send the payment for you while we wait for the funds to clear from your bank account. If your bank declined the transaction, this would cause your PayPal balance to go into the negative. 

I understand you cancelled the transaction. I would suggest you check the status of the transaction in your PayPal Activity page. If the transaction was Cancelled, it would show in your PayPal Activity page. 

If the payment shows as Completed, it would mean the merchant (Emirates) has not yet cancelled the transaction. If this is the case, I would advise you to contact the merchant directly and request a refund. 

If the merchant does issue a refund, this would resolve your negative balance. If you have any further concerns, please don't hesitate to contact our Customer Support.
