Receiving security code I did not ask for

I received a security code I did not ask for. I changed my password. I understand that sometimes someone trying to get into my account might call and ask for code which, of course, I would not give. Do I need to do anything else.

I got a text just now, too.  I suspect it is Phishing. The numbers look like they are hyperlinked.

Hello @Shoop51 and @Dragonshair

Thank you for visiting the PayPal Community Forum. I'm sorry to hear you've received security codes you did not initiate. When you receive a text message with a string of numbers in the body, your phone may hyperlink it to make it easy for you to click and call it. However, it's best not to click any hyperlinks in any unexpected messages or messages from unknown senders.

With that in mind, I do have a few recommendations. First, forward those messages to phishing@paypal.com and then delete it. Our teams will look into them for you. Second, normally these security codes are initiated by someone completing the forgot password process or a security check by trying to login with your email address. I would recommend updating your email address to something new and unique which you don't use on other platforms. You may also want to update your password and security questions while you're at it one more time just to be safe.

I hope that helps!
