Unauthorized Gift Card Added to Account

I received a "Stay logged in on your trusted device" e-mail, originating from the legit PayPal address, followed by a "You've added a card to your PayPal account" e-mail.

I logged in to my account directly to my app, and there was a Visa "MoonPay" pre-paid/gift card in my wallet. No balance shown, and no transactions had been made. I removed the card, reset my security settings, changed password, etc., but have no idea what was going on.

Any ideas?

Hello @14thbklynh and @sharpiemarker

Welcome back to the PayPal Community, and thanks for posting!

I'm sorry to hear about the unauthorized activity that has taken place. I'm glad to hear you were able to remove the card and change your password, @14thbklynh. In addition to @sharpiemarker's great recommendation, I have a few suggestions to help out. If you haven't already, I recommend setting up 2-Step Verification to add an extra layer of security to your account. When something like this happens, it's also a good idea to review your automatic payments and file an unauthorized dispute to record the activity. For any assistance investigating, you can reach Customer Support by clicking 'Contact' at the bottom of our website.

I hope this information helps to settle your nerves.
