What do I do? I called the fake Geek Squad number and now someone is taking control of my laptop. I did not realize it was a scam, I thought I was talking to PayPal. The charge was removed, but now I get a blue screen that says it's updating and not to turn off my computer. How do I get rid of them?

Hello @SusieGd

Welcome to the PayPal Community! I'm sorry to hear you've run into a fake Geek Squad number. It sounds like you've already reported the charge through PayPal and updated your password. If you haven't, I'd start here: How do I report an unauthorized transaction or account activity?

I would then recommend consulting with a professional computer tech in your area. Unfortunately we can't make any suggestions there, but you may want to start with where you purchased it from if it's a legitimate retailer.

After that, you may want to report this activity at ic3.gov, the FBI's Internet Crime Complaint Center. You may also wish to put a fraud alert on your credit record with one of the three major Credit Reporting Agencies (CRAs): Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion.

Finally, here's How to spot a fake, fraudulent, or phishing PayPal email or website if you need it for the future.

Good luck and best wishes!
