"Mark as shipped" - What if it's picked up in-store?

When confirming that orders were complete, you used to be able to make it through without having to specify tracking number and carrier. Instead, there was a 'tracking number not required' or similar option.

Now, you are forced to enter tracking and carrier. What if it was not received through a common carrier? What if it was picked up in-store? That option is now impossible to convey to the customer and if you aren't confirming that goods were delivered, doesn't that leave you open to a chargeback?

Just because receipt isn’t confirmed does not necessarily mean a buyer will file a PayPal dispute or a chargeback. And confirming receipt does not affect buyer protection (at least that’s what I’ve been told by the mods here previously) nor customer’s chargeback rights which are outside of PayPal’s control anyway. And in-person/hand deliveries are not covered under seller protection unless PayPal goods and services QR code was used to pay you.

The new issue unable to mark as shipped or order processed due to the missing “No tracking information required” check box is having to wait the full 21 days for PayPal to release a payment that’s on hold.

Kudos & Solved are greatly appreciated. 🙂
