A seller has stated a refund will be issued in 7 to 10 working days. However, this will mean my 14 day return protection will be over as it's been 7 days now. Am I still protected by PayPal to request a refund after 14 days as the item is faulty.

The seller states that if I open a PayPal dispute, they will not be able to refund me. Is this legal and correct? I don't want to lose my money.

NEVER close a dispute / claim until you have a refund.
If the seller issued a refund then that would close the dispute automatically.
If he doesn't escalate to a claim.
Do not close it or he can ignore you and you can't open a second dispute OR re-open a closed one.

Thanks for the info. If I was to open a dispute and it went over the 14 day buy on line protection, could I still get a refund either from the seller or PayPal?
