Hi gang
I'm in the UK and am using a business account.
I bought a piece of photographic equipment for 606.99 euro including shipping from someone in Romania. The payment was a deposit of 100 euro on the 9th of August and the balance was paid on the 21st of August.
The equipment arrived yesterday but a part of it was broken. The part that is broken can be bought on eBay in the UK for about £300 at the moment but it is a very scarce item. The seller has asked if the part (some cogs) could be 3D printed which might be a possibility if the correct materials are used. In order for parts to be made I would need to supply the broken cogs, maybe even glue them together.
I presume if the seller doesn't get back to me I can use buyer protection and reclaim what I paid for the equipment. I could then buy the replacement part. However, if I no longer have the parts because I sent them to the seller to model or any 3D printed replacement doesn't work as it should where do I stand? I am also a bit reticent to use 3D printed parts in case they don't work.
Thanks
John

In the event of an item received but not as described dispute you would have the option to sort things with the seller if you think that they will resolve the issue OR...........
you can escalate to a claim. However if you escalate to a claim then Paypal become involved and 'if' you win then the only option that they will give you is to return everything that you received back to the seller (trackable and at your own expense) before getting a full refund.
Paypal does not get involved in part refunds or returns unfortunately.
Advice is voluntary.
Kudos / Solution appreciated.

Oh, one other thing, the sale consisted of 3 items, only one is damaged. The two good parts I want to keep as they are difficult to source and are often very expensive.

You are only allowed x1 dispute per transaction, so if you did not escalate it to a claim then you are out of luck.
If you funded your paypal payment via a credit card then see if they will help you with a chargeback?
