Does Paypall call you on the phone? Or is it a pishing tentative?

I just received a phone call with hidden number, a robot was talking to me in German (my German is quite bad) pretending they're from Paypal, telling me it's about a payment of eight hundred and something and asking me to press 1 for I didn't understand what. I hung up immediately presuming this is a pishing tentative. I have no pending transactions on Paypal, neither payments or incoming. Does anybody know about this kind of calls? Was this pishing?

Yes I just had the same, Called from a Private number and introduced himself as "John" But I don't believe this was his real name, Asked about a request for Bitcoin that I had already cancelled and have been assured that it is completed. Caller asked for my email Address and my reaction was that he already knew and hung up with him saying they would email me.

I had the same problem. I live in Greece and I had 2 phone call in a month from a Greek mobile phone number which said that it was a PAYPAL call for a transaction of 650€  in Coinbase. I also hung up and no transaction seem to take place so I am very carefull with that and I ban the number after that.

I also received a call twice this week about a PayPal transaction of 689 euros, to press to deny the fee. I did not press anything. What amazed me the most is that I was called on a phone number that I never added to my PayPal account. I just relocated and my PayPal account is still based on my previous country,so I was rather suprised how PayPal got this phone number. Ps: I have moved the account there after.

Just had the same issue with a call from a German number [Removed] and an automated English woman's voice saying I have a transaction for 300 euros in progress. I cut the call as I have no such transaction.

I had the same today, received a call from a robot, with a message that a transaction was made of around 600 €, and press 1 for ok, and 2 to get to speak to the helpdesk.

Curious as I am, I went further and choose option 2, and got a guy with an Indian accent on the the line, and he immediately starts about that my computer was supposedly hacked, I pressed a bit further, and I asked where he came from and his name, and the last thing I heard was "mother f#$" and he hung up.

These guys try to get your money, under the pretence that your computer is hacked, they will ask you to install a remote access program, so they can take over your computer and in that way they hope to find a way to transfer money through various ways to their accounts, further they spoof a phone number, in my case, an Italian number.

No Worries, you guys do as much as you can with security, but there is also a bit of responsibility on the user with security. I used to work to fool around my self in my younger years, security wise.
