Getting a refund after my account on a shopping site was hacked

A couple of days ago, my account on instant-gaming.com was hacked, and someone used it to buy themselves various game codes with my PayPal. I contacted the site, but they just disabled my account and told me they don't give out refunds for used codes. What should I do in order to get my money back?

What option should I be using?

If I select "I want a refund", then I end up with a form where I have to explain what was wrong with the product, as opposed to the fact that it was ordered by a hacker (and probably delivered to them perfectly well). If I select "unauthorised activity in my PayPal account", I have to fill in a form as if my PayPal account has been compromised, which it hasn't (as far as I know).

Hi @Velorien,

Thank you for your post,

PayPal does offer protection for cases of an unauthorized use if your PayPal account has been compromisedWhen a customer opens an unauthorized case, PayPal will review to see if a third party has compromised the account. If there is no evidence on the PayPal account of the unauthorized activity, we would be unable to grant the claim and issue a refund to you.

As it wasn't your PayPal account that was accessed without your consent, it's best to reach out to the merchant and try to resolve this directly with them.
