How do I open a dispute with a seller when a purchase goes wrong?

You can open a dispute in the Resolution Centre of your PayPal account within 180 days of payment if:
•You don’t receive the item OR service
•You receive an item but it’s significantly different than the description on eBay or on the seller’s website (or you receive a totally different product).

By opening a dispute, you can communicate directly with your seller to work out a problem transaction.

If you reach an agreement with the seller you can close the dispute. If you're still not happy with the result, you can escalate the dispute into a claim. Paypal will review the claim and decide on reimbursement.

These steps apply to Personal accounts. If you have a Business account, please log in to see the steps that apply to you.

To open a dispute:
1.Log in to your PayPal account.
2. Click on the transaction and use the resolve a problem option at the bottom of that details page.

Note:
•Generally buyers must wait at least 7 days from the date of payment to escalate a dispute for an item not received
•Where an item has not been received, please ensure you have given the seller enough time before opening a dispute

Do not close the dispute until you have a refund or your item.
If a seller states that they can't refund until you have closed the dispute don't believe them.
Escalate the dispute to a claim within 20 days (before it times out), if you need Paypal to get involved.

If you lose because the seller provides a fake tracking number then post back here for more advice.
If the item arrives and its not what you ordered / not as described then make sure you change the dispute quickly from non receipt. If the dispute times out before you can change it then contact customer services to open a second dispute for the new reason.

Activate the below link in case you have to return the item at Paypals request (or the correct one for your country as this is the U.S link).

https://www.paypal.com/us/webapps/mpp/returns

If that does not work then if you funded your paypal payment via a card then contact your card issuer and see if they will issue a chargeback.

I have and I regret ever ordering anything from them.

I ordered a 3 seater sofa from them with seven day delivery.  They called me back and said they couldn't supply it for four weeks. They offered an alternative which was more expensive which they said could be delivered on time and I took a look on the site and did not want that one. So I said I would get back to them the next day after my other half, Michelle got home from work and we could discuss it. I had a chat with  her, and she said we could possibly wait for it. So I called them and managed to speak to someone, to discuss the wait.

They then told me it would be eight weeks.  I said I didn't want to wait that long, and they said also the price might have increased by then, but they wouldn't say by how much. So I then said I would like my money refunded, I was then told to reply to my order notification and ask to cancel the order.  So I sent the email reply, and politely asked if they would acknowledge receipt of the email as soon as they read it. They didn't. So I opened up a dispute with PayPal as I had paid with them. Some days later I got an email asking if I wanted something different again, which I couldn't even find on their site. So I replied again to this declining the alternative product, asking instead for a refund, which they have not given as yet. They haven't been in touch since then.

They have my money, and I have nothing whatsoever. I now want nothing from this company other than my money returning.

The most galling thing is that they are still offering the  sofa I ordered on their site with a seven day delivery.

I was assured by (EDIT: Customer services = PayPal) customer services  however I would get my refund. I'll reply if all goes well.

Just an update. I got a refund via PayPal, (for which I am very grateful) as PayPal found my dispute with Furco in my favour, but I don't know any more than that. I never got any more email replies from Furco, nor did I receive my sofa of course, but I now have my money back. Why Furco didn't just refund me straight away and avoid this PayPal dispute is beyond me. I certainly won't be ordering anything else from them.
