Paypal thinks my ID is fake and closed my account

Ive been using Paypal for almost 2 decades. Personal and business. Recently I had to change debit cards since I lost it. They asked me to send photo ID. Sent my New York state drivers license.  Few days later, it says my account is closed upon review permanently.

I call customer support and was told, someone on Paypals end, flagged my ID as being fake. Has anyone had this issue where Paypal just closes your account and theres nothing you can do, even though they are wrong?

Just got numerous emails tonight that my account was currently limited for suspicious activity on a card linked to my account. Too late to call anyone about this. I’ve also used it for years with no problem. Out of the blue there was a charge on the PayPal credit and I had no idea who shop, inc was so disputed it last week. Now I can’t use PayPal at all. The emails that PayPal sent make no sense either. What’s up???

Hello @Eddieboy82 @Temp20230922a and @simon262

Welcome to the PayPal Help Community and thanks for your post!

I do understand your concern regarding your account being limited permanently. For the safety and security of the network, PayPal system often reviews the accounts for possible risks which may lead to a limitation placed in your account. You will be notified the reason of the limitation via email. When an account is limited permanently, any funds in your balance will be help up to 180 days and you will be updated via email about the eligibility of the withdrawal. I recommend you to reach out to PayPal Support team to get a second look on your account.

@simon262 If you have already received the eligibility email for the withdrawal, you can contact the PayPal team to get your funds.

Here's the help center article with the contact options to reach the PayPal team : How do I contact PayPal customer service?

Have a great day!
