Has anyone else received $5 payments from CB Neptune Holdings, LLC? I have four of these deposits in my recent account activity but have no idea who this is or why they would be depositing money into my account. Is this some type of a scam or hack? I have changed my password since this happened.

I've gotten $3.00 deposits. I've contacted paypal but they don't see anything suspicious. It's happened before in the past, and they just disappear. Not happy with the CS of Paypal atm. I don't belong to anything that would automatically give me refunds.

I recently signed up for Safeway rewards. They offer rewards for some alcohol items, such as beer, but instead of subtracting the reward amount from your checkout total, the reward amount is sent to your PayPal account, which has to have the same email address as used with your Safeway rewards account. Apparently your email is the only thing needed to enable this deposit to your PayPal account.
I asked why this was done, and the explanation I was given by Safeway was that Washington State (which is where I live) prohibits "rewards" for alcohol items being subtracted from the checkout total. The store can legally discount alcohol items at the time of sale, but they can't give a "reward" for them. The work-around is to send the reward amount to PayPal, which is where "CB Neptune Holdings, LLC" gets involved, as the sender of record.
Don't ask me why WA law forces (yet apparently allows) this convoluted arrangement!
