Temu set up automatic payment without my consent

I would like to know if anyone has had the same issue as I've recently had? I used temu for the first time and used PayPal as a method of payment. Temu then sent me one of their standard marketing voucher offers, so l clicked on to have a look. As is usual with most of us, I got carried away browsing, and tried to put a camara into my basket. Then, after clicking on one of the options, I managed to order the camara and purchase some vouchers! I think I accidentally clicked on the purchase now option instead of putting it into my basket. At no point was I was asked for any PayPal passwords prior to purchasing. They also set up an automatic payment option on my paypal account. How and why were they allowed to set up the automatic payment system and take money from my bank account to put credit onto my temu account. It's quite disturbing that they can do this so easily. Is it another con that's similar to the one where you have to opt out of an agreement or they will automatically take out money for a new subscription. These options should be the other way around! If we want to renew the subscription or purchase again, it should be us that opt for it, not the seller.

A lot of times what happens is people accept a free trial for a product and forget to cancel. As a buyer you must agree to a billing agreement/subscription before a merchant can take a payment from your PayPal account.

If you don't notice during checkout OR don't cancel then it auto renews. Be careful what you are accepting.

Check if you had a subscription set up and cancel it?

No, there was no subscription mentioned at all. I'm quite fastidious where it comes to signing up to anything. This was one click to put an item into my basket and then they immediately took for vouchers that were offered in the promotional email. Now I'm gonna have to be more careful when ordering anything from a promotional email. I have cancelled the "subscription" and fortunately have received my money back. I think this was due to the fact that I cancelled everything immediately with PayPal and also with Temu. This was done far too easily by Temu and PayPal, anything that's going to take monies immediately and ongoing should require more than one click, you should be asked at least twice if not 3 times.

Same!! I had items in my cart, which mostly I like to browse and then take things out of my cart if I see something else I want instead. I never even hit the payment button! Temu just put my order through without my concent at all!! How the hell are they getting away with this?

PayPal should be sued for this and how when they can't process a payment with the agreed account then that just start charging other accounts you have ever used in their system untill they can find an account to take the payment. I only keep one account in my PayPal account now and pretty much never use PayPal because of these issues and my connected account is a virtual card that automatically turns off after 1 day. PayPal uses automatic to **bleep** its customers but my bank uses automatic to make sure I don't get **bleep** haha. PayPal is the worst, they work for scammers and the worst of the credit industry and care zero for individuals and provide absolutely nothing that any credit card bankd don't provide themselves much more easy and simple that the dispute process PayPal has. There is really no point of PayPal but to allow merchants without permission to dip into your accounts (any of them) or provide scammers a payment system. It's disgusting and PayPal need to explain it to a judge

My thoughts exactly! Thanks for you're reply, it's good to know other people have the same thoughts as myself. I don't feel like I want to use them in the future now.

Im dealing with audible taking 16 payments equalling $298. They approved and refunded 5 disputes dating back to 2021. But the more recent ones.... they said theyre out of the time frame in order to issue a refund. Uhm, I havent been on paypal since march 2021 or used it (which can be proven by my transaction history) But somehow audible charges dates from November 2021 to may 2023. They can refund 5 of them but not the more recent 11? I just logged back in after 3 years and turns out theyve been stealing hundreds from me and wont return it. And they dont show the proper transaction ID for audible to find the charge. Its not on my audible account tho, theyve assured me of that. Probably because i dont use audible and it wasnt me receiving the services. Duh. But both merchant and bank says talk to the other, so i talk to both i got proof and confirmation for my claims. Now theyre all denied. All 11. And i cant even escalate. They wont give me the option. Should I lawyer up? I feel like theyre gonna be giving me a bit more than my 200 dollars, for my anguish and stress, and not only that fraudulent activities that is being ignored. They also claimed that i was suspect of fraud in an email yesterday due to the fact i kept calling them out on their disgusting act. I struggle everyday and youre gonna steal my money? I don't think so, not today satan. Anyone want in? Im serious, youre not gonna steal from the starving and weak and get away with it. Sickening.

Same. Was offered a coupon, was not reflected in the cart, pressed what I thought was the button that would lead to next screen and ask for address and payment info to see if the coupon was applied on that page and it just ordered. Never asked me my address or what payment I would like to use. I have only used Temu one time almost a year ago. I did not save my information with them. I thought I backed out of it fast enough, but no. I got an email the next day, about an hour before the items shipped, asking me to confirm my address. Why not during the ordering process? Scammy. I deleted them through PayPal, deleted all payment information off of Temu. Also Instagram had saved 2 of my debt cards and my PayPal information, deleted that also. Thank goodness temu has easy returns, because all that crap is going right back.

I have two step verification set up on PayPal and am always very careful about security. I ordered something from Temu and used PayPal to pay. When I went back yesterday to order something else I was shocked that o clicked on the pay by PayPal and it bypassed all of the password and verification! I went into PayPal to check and found that Temu had been set up as an automated payment! I would never have agreed to this and there was nothing that I clicked on to approve it! I’ve disabled it and will think twice before ordering again!
