Certainly a well done attempt to get a thousand dollars that I'd rather keep, if I had it.

Weird phishing try. The email code looks like legit paypal.com generated. Hmmmm.  Someone has access to Paypal servers and got inside?

Thanks people. PayPal rep tells me one giveaway was the email addressed to "PayPal user" and not to the individual. Definitely a phish.

Got this email today, except the walmart gift card amount was $600.00.

They have found a way to make the email "from" address to look legit, even when checking the header information. The interesting thing, however, is that they copied the paypal email template to the point that it says at the bottom, "paypal will always address you by your full name" and yet the email itself is addressed to "Paypal user." So it contradicts itself. Also the language is wrong. If there was "evidence" my account had been "accessed unlawfully," Paypal would not be holding a transaction for 24 hours before debiting. Also see "if you suspect you did not make this transaction," I wouldn't suspect... I would know if I didn't make the transaction. It's more sophisticated than most phishing emails, but still has some giveaways. Would be a shame if we all called that phone number and sang happy birthday. See screenshot:
