'Notification of payment recieved' - a little different from normal.

I've sold something on E-Bay and received a message through email that says 'Notification of payment received'. Usually the emails I get say 'Item no.XXXXXXXXXX - Notification of an Instant Payment Received from' I've checked my PayPal account and the funds are there, the payment transaction is there, and the item on E-Bay shows payment recieved. So far, so good. But I'm still puzzled/worried as to why this email is a little bit different? Should I be concerned? I can't find an answer to this on this forum, but one other forum suggested this might happen when someone pays with their PayPal balance versus a debit/credit card.

I am having the same problem - if it is a problem at all? All seems to be fine, it's just bit confusing as I recieved a "Notification of payment recieved" direct from the Ebay buyers email? Ebay shows the item paid as well as it showing in Paypal. Is it a genuine Paypal email?

Hey guys,

If you have received a message advising that the payment has been initiated through eBay but you don't see the payment in your PayPal account, it sounds to me that the payment is currently trying to be sent to an old or inactive email address.

Here’s how to find the email address you used in your eBay listing:

  1. Go to http://www.ebay.com/ and log in to your account.
  2. Click ‘My eBay’ at the top of the page.
  3. Click ‘Sold’ under ‘Activity’.
  4. Click the item you sold.
  5. Click ‘Sell a similar item’.

The email address you used in your listing is under ‘Decide how you’d like to be paid’.

If this email address is not associated with your PayPal account, you need to add and validate the address before you can receive a payment.

Here’s how you add an email address to your PayPal account:

  1. Go to http://www.paypal.co.uk/ and log in to your account.
  2. Click ‘Profile’ near the top of the page.
  3. Click 'Update' beside 'Email'.
  4. Enter your new email address and click ‘Save’.

Here’s how you confirm your email address:

  1. Click ‘Profile’ near the top of the page.
  2. Click 'Update' beside 'Email'.
  3. Select the email address you want to confirm and click ‘Confirm’. We will send you an email.
  4. Click the link in the email to complete the confirmation process.
If you don't have access to the email address that the payment was sent to, you can ask your buyer to cancel the payment from their PayPal account and then resend the payment to your correct email address using the Send Money tab from their PayPal account.
Please let me know how you get on.
David.
