Printing labels for 2nd class postage

I've sold an item on Ebay with 2nd class postage but when I use the "Print Postage Labels" facility Paypal seems to only give me the option of printing 1st class postage.  Is there a way of getting the 2nd class postage label printed in Paypal?

Hi there pe8910,

Not all of Royal Mail postage options are available to our customers using PayPal postage, there are available direct from Royal Mail though. We give customers a selection of different types of options but not every single one is there.

You could visit the Royal Mail website and check out the full list of options open to you. You can get it here

I hope this information helps you

Hi Wayne.

Thanks for the information.

If I specify 1st class postage when I sell something, I can then link from Ebay to Paypal and the buyer's details are automatically populated.  I find this process is quite straightforward and useful.  The postage options in Paypal are mostly to do with 1st class but if I could use the same process for Ebay items having 2nd class postage that would be useful too.

I agree with pe8910 - the ability to create Second Class postage labels would be really helpful. I typically only sell DVDs, on which eBay won't permit me to specify more than £1 for postage. Since First Class postage of a DVD is now £0.96 (£1.51 if it exceeds the thickness for Large Letter, which many boxsets can), First Class post on lower-priced items could end up costing me more in postage, eBay and Paypal fees than I actually make from the sale! I therefore typically post Second Class, but doing this through Royal Mail's web site is fiddly and time-consuming in comparison to the auto-populated fields in PayPal postage.

It'd be nice to have alright, we'll certainly pass the suggestion on but there's no plans to introduce it at the moment and, to be honest, I wouldn't hold my breath. Whatever the agreement we have with Royal Mail is it currently doesn't involve 2nd class postage.

Second class always used to be available - so it must have been withdrawn.  It really irritates me - eBay is supposed to be a great way of getting a bargain, but if sellers are forced to use first class or parcel post (much more expensive) then their buyers will be put off by high postage costs, and eBay will suffer because of less sales.  Looks like a cynical money making exercise to me. 😞

Hi guys,

You can purchase postage through your PayPal or eBay account. If you purchase postage through your PayPal account, the cheapest option you have to post the item is 1st class postage. If you purchase the postage through your eBay account, you do have an option to purchase 2nd class postage.

Here's how to use PayPal postage if you receive a payment for an eBay item:

  1. Go to www.ebay.co.uk and log in to your account.
  2. Click 'My eBay.'
  3. Click 'Sold' under 'Sell' to display all the items you've recently sold.
  4. Click 'Print Postage Label' under 'Actions' beside the item you sold.

You can pay for postage labels with your PayPal account balance, with an Instant Bank Transfer from your bank account, or with your credit card.

I hope this helps,

David.

Hi David  Whilst this is useful information. Could you tell me if be paying this way gives the seller the same protection against buyers, who claim they have not received goods. That I would get by purchasing a postage label straight from

the paypal option?

Hi. Should be 2 options 1. Print PL from PayPal or 2.Print PL from Ebay - like always was. You don't have options like My hermes, Collect + and RM 2 class. Everybody's knows what about... I understand you have contract and benefits from Royal Mail, but you charge enough from every transaction -it's not enough?
