Taking a refundable deposit

Hi,

I run a film production company, I am looking to set up a button that allows applicants to pay a refundable deposit.  This is something which would be paid by the the applicant, then be refunded on the day they attend auditions.

I am aware that you can create Buy Now, Subscriptions, etc. But is there a facility which allows you to amend the actual text on the button - i.e. change Buy Now to Pay Deposit.

Any help on this would be helpful.

Many thanks

Mark

Hi Markw242,

sorry for the delayed response.

There are many different options on PayPal to receive payments for deposits however there is not an option for refundable deposits. What you would need to do is set up the button to recieve deposits and then manually refund the payments.

I hope this helps

Depending on time frames involved an alternative option would be to alter a buy now buttons payment action to authorise rather than capture the funds. This let's you capture payments at a later date within a certain time frame. Those who turn up you can ignore and the authorisation will expire, those who don't turn up you can manually capture their payments from your PayPal account.

Would paypal charge for taking the money, the refunding it as a deposit?

I think that after too many refunds they would have an issue with you as a seller. Its a refund system not a deposit system.
