How to send echeck?

I'd like to pay by echeck, which I've done in the past, but when I go to send funds, the only payment options I see are instant transfer by my bank account or by my credit card I have on file. I do click the "change" payment options button and on the following screen it still doesn't list echeck as an option. I am verified. Anyone know why? Thanks for your help!

Welcome to the boards!

eCheck has always been one of the less popular and slower methods to purchase from individuals.  The delay results in a seller having to wait longer to receive their funds, and the buyer waits longer to have the item shipped.  Understandably, this is a negative experience for all parties involved.  As such, PayPal changed the ability to use eCheck quite some time ago - now, if there is an instant purchase method available, eCheck will not be available.

Adrian,

I made an ebay purchase and the seller wants me to pay by echeck.  I have no problem with this other than the fact that it does not appear as an option.  Is there something I can do in order to pay by echeck?

Hi, they want you to pay by echeck because there was only a $5 flat fee for the seller and not 2.9percent if you pay by credit card or bank transfer... However, just recently on June 12th, if you login to your account and on the right side of the page you'll see a policy update that says echecks are now charged 2.9percent as well. You should tell your seller this and have him look at the policy update. After he sees that I think he'd tell you to send the payment however you'd like as the fees are the same now. If for some reason the seller still wants an echeck, you'll have to remove your credit card on file and then you'll get the option of sending an echeck. Hope this helps. -James
