Hi everyone,
I've consolidated several threads into this one, so everyone can see answers in the same place.
The error message is a little confusing because it's generic. I'm sorry about that, but I can clarify here.
This error most commonly occurs when there is a formatting discrepancy on one of the addresses going on the label. It can be either the ship-to address OR the ship-from address. Even addresses that have passed validation previously may trip up the validation on subsequent attempts, so it is important to check both addresses even if they have worked before.
Go to http://www.usps.com and click to "Look up a zip code". Paste in the buyer's address. If the USPS has the address listed in different formatting, edit it for the label. Remove a business name if that differs. Change "street" to "st" if that's how the USPS has it. Remove trailing spaces if the address you pasted in has them. The validation can be finicky!
If the error continues to occur, do the same for your ship-from address. Even if it has worked previously, you may find that this resolves the problem.

I said this on another message feed but I feel the need to reapeat myself as it is still not working!
Do you think there would be any chance that Ebay will explain to my customers why I was not able to send there items out or will they just mess up my "stars" when customers think I am posting items out too slow!
I have a mountain of postage to so and alI I can do with them is pack them all and write the address on the front to come back and print the postage after!
Whilst holding down running a house, looking after a kid and doing a full time job!
TIME IS MONEY!!!!!
Why is there no info on this and a time for it to be fixed by???????
Can we delay payment for our fees for a few days or so???

Thanks for the link, I managed to print postage out with no problem. Had to enter all the details in manually, but at least the parcels can now go 1st thing

That link works well to print domestic postage and international priority and express, but I still can't print International First Class Mail.

Are you serious? I think youre slightly missing the point here. I think the problem is with paypal and royal mail. Its nothing to do with the bloody shipping addresses. FGS

Same here.
The system has been down for over 72 hours fo me now.
I notice that there's no problem in paypal taking our fees though.
I find it absolutely despicable that Paypal cannot be bothered to inform us that there's a problem. If they don't know when it will be fixed, they should at least have the common decency to tell us.

i'm not an ebay seller and the shipping hasn't worked for me for about 3 weeks now. i tried the multi order shipping, print shipping label and two versions of the ship now with no luck. i validated my address with USPS and other addresses as well and gues what? no luck again.
what is worst than the problem itself is paypal reaction, an error message that tells you nothing, a customer service who knows nothing and ask you to keep trying and the worst of them all is the engineering team which tells you anything, mostly nonsense. not trying to be negative here but shame on paypal if their website doesn't remove spaces (trim) and errors out on them. and shame on you paypal again for not been able to admit your mistakes and use us to test your system and tells you what work and what doesn't.
here are some thoughts which i hope can help you:
- the problem is on your end. shipping worked until you deployed an update
- your first step to a resolve the problem is admitting you have a problem
- stop pushing everyone in every direction until you solve the issue
- never tolerate your service standards on secondary services which may not be a big revenue generator

Foreign customer service reps? Can't reprint a label because the page is constantly down. 15+ minutes hold for a customer service rep?
