As you haven't added your country to your profile (so we can see when we hover over your username) or said in your post which country you are in so unfortunately we can't advise.
Paypal varies a great deal country to country so you need to tell us where you are on this worldwide community forum.

Thanks! I checked and couldn't change or add the country in the settings, only thing I can add is company name. I live in Switzerland but the account still runs in Austria I think. Nevertheless I should be able to debit USD no? Otherwise paypal charges me twice, once with a transaction fee and once with a bad exchange rate, no?

I meant your community profile not your paypal account profile OR you could just say in your post.

However........

Paypal is country specific so if you move countries you have to open another paypal account in the country you reside in and add an address / phone number / bank accounts / cards from within that country.

OK, so to to debit USD I have to be resident in a country where USD is the official currency then? I could receive USD, however. So you advice to only use PayPal in your countries currency, there's no option to debit other currencies?

Thats not what I said at all.

You said >>>

I live in Switzerland but the account still runs in Austria I think.

so I informed you that if you are using an Austrian paypal account in Switzerland then it won't work properly as paypal is country specific.

Thanks so far for the advice: To sum it up:

- I tried to edit my settings in the community, I cannot find a country to edit, only thing I can add is a company.

- I tried to open a new account, but  it says I already have one and should just log in.

- I opened the account when i lived in Austria, now i live in Switzerland. I changed my adress and everything, so it should not make a differnce. I access paypal via paypal.com, there is no country specific option to choose.

Thats all the info i can give you for now.

You can't change countries on a paypal account, when you move countries you are supposed to close the old account and open a new one in your new country.

You would need to close the old one first but can't do that if you have ongoing transactions etc so if you want to open a new paypal account in the correct country then you would need to use another email address. Your email address identifies your paypal account so you can't have the same one for 2 accounts.
