Direct debit not taken

I need some help understanding the direct debit side of things. I recently added my new bank account to PayPal- I added my card then it asked for My bank account so to process a direct debit. All seemed fine, I saw payments leave my bank foe purchases until over a week ago I made a charity payment and noticed a week later, it still wasn't taken. I looked further Into it and saw some of my payments were coming off my card - these were the ones I saw on my bank statement. However, I saw many other payments, thankfully smaller values, were being taken off my bank account and these have not came off my bank but processed as "paid" on PP. There is no pending payments on my abank app, no requests no nothing. Is there any idea how long these take to be taken out my account? I've removed this option from my PP as I would prefer the payments be taken quickly like my previous account did but it is looking like I am going to have a debit of many payments at the same time. Sadly i was under the illusion i would be debited when i make a payment.

Hello @Holybel

Welcome to the PayPal Community! I'm sorry to hear you've run into some issues payment timeframes recently. Normally, when you make a payment with a debit or credit card, you should the transaction charged to your debit or credit card almost immediately. Even if there's an authorization where the funds need to be captured later by the merchant, the authorization should show right away on your debit/credit card's end. If the transaction is funded by instant transfer with your bank account / routing number, then the charge would normally debit the bank account within a business day.

I hope that clears things up a bit. Feel free to reach out to our Customer Support teams with any other questions.

Have a great day!
