Do I setup direct deposit with payer AND PayPal?

Hi all,

I have a PP Balance account.  I recently applied for Social Security during which I setup payments via direct deposit to my PP account by providing Social Security my PP routing and account numbers.  I had expected I would thereafter see this information reflected in my PP account, but it is not being shown.  Is providing my routing and account numbers to Social Security all I have to do, or must I also setup the same direct deposit on the PayPal end?

Welcome back and thanks for your reply! I'm sorry to hear there's been some confusion regarding our Direct Deposit process. You can either search for the entity paying you by clicking "Set Up Automatically" after "Set up Direct Deposit", or you can just provide the entity paying you the account and routing number through their proper submission process. 

 

Since it sounds like you completed the latter, you most likely won't see anything on PayPal's side until we receive the first payment from your Social Security. The entity sending the deposit to us should be able to provide you a time-frame on when to expect your first deposit.

If you have already set up PayPal direct deposit on your PayPal account, received the account/routing numbers to set up the payer in PayPal or filled out the Social Security direct deposit form, that’s all you need to do.

Sorry for the delayed response, but life has been busy.

 

Inasmuch as I can recall, I didn't take specific actions to setup direct deposits for my PP account; however, I assumed the direct deposit feature is available on my PP account, because I am able to go to my PP Direct Deposit page where I can see my routing and account numbers and where it's obvious I can setup direct deposit transfers (please correct me if that assumption is wrong). I subsequently provided my PP routing/account information to Social Security during my application with them without taking any action on PP's end, and I assumed that was the only action necessary to properly setup that direct deposit to my PP account.

 

Assuming I'm correct that direct deposits are available on my PP account, and if I understand you correctly, I should be good to go, correct?
