Negative balance top up

I bought something online and used my bank account instead of my card, so it took a few days to clear, by which time an unexpected bill had come out so the transaction failed. This resulted in a negative balance. On payday I went to buy something and I was told I needed to top up at the same time with my card - which I did. I have looked at my bank balance and on the same day, PayPal have charged my card for the original transaction too - but nothing has appeared in my PayPal balance? I obviously can't afford to pay for it twice. Does anyone know when it will clear into my balance? This has been a few days now. Will it happen automatically or do I need to contact PayPal?

If you have failed bank transfer then Paypal automatically keep trying to access those funds to clear your negative balance.
They have already fronted the payment to the seller on your behalf and so want the money owed.

If you paid and sent funds to your Paypal account + Paypal automatically applied for the funds as well then you would have 2 payments processing to your paypal balance.
The first one to arrive will clear the negative balance and the second one will be credited as a + to your balance and you can withdraw it back to your balance once cleared.

Hi, my paypal has already cleared the second transaction however it still says my balance is in the negatives? In my bank it says paypal took my money twice (because I topped up the balance and they also took it regardless) then they cleared the second one however on paypal it says my top up failed and my balance is still in the negatives. Do I contact paypal or my bank, or should I just wait it out?

Yes, I’m just a bit confused because it is still in the negatives. When you say the payment will go through the first then second time how long will this usually take as mine is still in the negatives. Will paypal stop taking my money now?

Allow 5-7 days as adding funds from a bank account to a PayPal account goes as an echeque.
