I've placed an order and saw a notification on paypal saying the amount I paid was preauthorized. I saw it for awhile in my credit card's transactions as pending but it has disappeared, I still see the notification on paypal but it does'nt appear in my activity's list at all. I've contacted the card's issuer and they said it appears as decline..So I've placed an order again, this time not with paypal and the transaction number appears to be same as I first saw it before it has disappeared, only now with a + sign left to it.. I still see same notification on paypal, does it means I might be charged twice? I'll be glad for your help!
No. Each preauthorization is separate. Once it expires or is voided, it disappears and the money is released. If you buy again, a new pre authorization is initiated awaiting for merchant to either claim payment, void it or let expire.
The notification is just a notification. If it’s not in your PayPal activity or your card anymore, then the first preauthorization expired and dropped off.
