Cancelled Transaction is Still Pending

I tried to place an order on Ulta through PayPal on October 15th. The order didn't go through, so I canceled the transaction on PayPal. I didn't get charged on my bank account, however, the PayPal balance that I used to pay for the order was used and it hasn't been refunded. The order says it's still pending even though it was canceled. Does anyone know how to remove the transaction and get my PayPal balance back?

Hello @kaitlinmg19,

Welcome to PayPal Community Forum and thank you for posting!

I understand your concern about the pending transaction on your PayPal account. Based on the information you have provided, it seems like payment is processed as authorization. Authorization is an agreement between you and a merchant, when you authorize a payment to a merchant, you agree to make a purchase for a specified amount. Your account will show a “Pending” authorization until the merchant captures the payment. Once a merchant processes the order, they capture the payment and charge your account. The payment will show as ‘"Complete” and the merchant will ship the item. In your case, it is possible that the cancelation of your payment was not successful. If the person you sent money to doesn't claim the money within 30 days, the full amount will be returned to your PayPal balance, credit card, or debit card and all holds are released. It can take up to 4 days for the money to appear in the merchant’s PayPal account. We’ll send you an email after the merchant is paid. If you still do not receive the money, you may have to contact the merchant to enquire about it. If the merchant is refusing to issue a refund, then you can wait till the payment gets completed and then we encourage you to report it in our Resolution Center as soon as possible.

Regards,
Ayesha
