How to disable entirely the automatic payment feature?
It is unacceptable that if i pay to an seller by PayPal, it will be automatically added to the active automatic payment list without my acnowledge.
I want to disable this PayPal feature permanently. I want always authorizing every payments. It is crazy that the seller can draw the money when he want!

Hello @Gabor2000 and @Omid2023
Thank you for writing in the PayPal Help Community!
I am sorry to hear that you've run into some issues with cancelling automatic payments in your PayPal account. When you make a purchase with a merchant, they will sign you up to a subscription automatically and this may be modified at the time of checkout. You cannot stop the scheduled payments, however, you can cancel the subscription at least 1 day before the scheduled date of the next payment to avoid the charge.
As you've already reported the charge with PayPal, you can always check the status and updates of the dispute in the resolution center of your PayPal account. For any direct assistance, please reach out to the support team to look into this further.
Hope this information helps you,
Bindu

Thank you very much for your reply.
As I understood from your reply, merchants could sign up our accounts, right? Why a merchant should sign up me with out my approve or even without informing me?!
It is interested for me because they replied and told me I have subscriped but I beleive I have never did it or maybe there is a tricky way they do it and I approve without understanding what I am approving. It is my PayPal account and if I would, I should do it from my account settings not a merchant!.
You are right and I could deactivated automatic payments and I did it same day I realised there is such a subscription buthow could I have known it before this case? I am sure lots of people do not know it because when I told couple of my friends non of them knew it.
Just for your info, at the moment I disconnected all my back accounts and cards from my PeyPal account to make sure I will never surperise again by PayPal or any other merchant. Thank you very much for your advaice and defintly I will contact PayPal support team.

Hi Omid2023, This very dangerous feature cannot be entirely disable.
It is not understandable why exist this feature. There are no trusted sellers.
There is no option to cancel it even at the payment, it is activated if the seller wants.
The only way to protect our money is after every payments:
go immediately to Settings -> Payments -> Automatic payments,
and disable all active automatic payments if any.
If the seller is faster than you, he can steal all your money.
I'm tried to contact with PayPal, but it is unpossible, only this community exist, which cannot do anything.
Crazy!

Hi @Gabor2000
Just for your information, I checked with some friends and informed them to beawar about this feature which I think is almost new feature.
I realised this is a option for a friend of mine. Who use Electric Scooter couple of times a week and pay with PayPal. By automatic payment it is not necessary eveytime to approve a payment to service provider. But unfortunalty I purchased a one year license for 2023 and now because of this feature seller has deducted for 2024 and extended my license without my authorization while I did not need it.
I have opend a case for this payment in PayPal and contacted seller in this way also. Unfortunatly, they have not replied and I am going to escalate issue to PayPal.
It is expected someone from PayPal to join and reply why we are in this situation and what should we do!!!

I have the same problem. 5 minutes ago I activated a trial at a Facebook ad, i have subscribed to a FREE 1-WEEK TRIAL for 0.00eur. After confirmation with Paypal, I got charged for 6.90eur, because my Trial subscription has set up an automatic payment that the company has withdrawn immediately, without my knowledge. I got a message from the Bank (about the payment) SOONER THAN PAYPAL has informed me. I have had literally no chance to cancel this in time.
This is the second time I have experieced this and I consider it to be a fraud. Misusing Paypal automatic payments, where Paypal customers agree to one thing and a different thing actually happens.
I was using Paypal as a safe way to pay and be protected. Instead of this, I got robbed by robbers that exploit Paypal's automatic payments. I'm thinking about closing my Paypal account ... let's see how my paypal cases end...
if there's any Paypal representative, feel free to contact me and I'll provide at least two cases where i got robbed. I have one Paypal Case appeal open at this moment

Hey @PayPal_Bindu can you please answer the original question?
As a user of PayPal I don't want to allow any automatic payments....I want no assumption of subscription with any seller at any time.
Is this possible today? Is it planned in a near term roadmap?

Hi @wreckedred,
Thank you for your post. I'm sorry that the question wasn't answered to your satisfaction. I'll be happy to provide the information that can be supplied.
It is not possible at this time to completely opt out of the possibility of an automatic payment agreement being offered by a merchant who utilizes that tool. Automatic payments can only be avoided by opting not to purchase from each individual seller who presents the requirement of a billing agreement to you. Many large merchants do require a billing agreement to be agreed to by the buyer in order to allow the use of a username and password on their site to speed up future payments, or to facilitate a trial period, or for other reasons.
I cannot speak to the possibility of this changing or not, but we appreciate the feedback that everyone has offered. I'm sorry that this is not the answer that is preferred, but I hope the clarity is helpful.
