PURCHASED AN ITEM USING PAYPAL ON THE INTERNET. I NOW WANT TO RETURN IT TO THE RETAIL STORE. HOW DO THEY CREDIT IT?

You would need to contact the merchant you purchased from and see if they will accept a return for a refund.
Paypal only covers you for non receipt of item OR item received but not as described, they don't cover buyer remorse unfortunately.
Advice is voluntary.
