VENDOR ADDING UNWANTED AUTOMATIC PAYMENTS - CAN THIS BE PREVENTED?

Regarding automatic payments. I have one vendor I purchase from every now and again, and every time I do there are three automatic payments added for the vendor.

So every time I purchase from them I have to cancel three automatic payments. Yes, I know I cannot delete them, but three at a time they are building up and up.

There doesn't seem to be any tick box or other message in their checkout that notifies me that the payment will be madE automatic.

Who is responsible for this? I presume it's the vendor - but is there a way in Paypal to prevent it?

Hello @coorella

Thanks for stopping by the PayPal Community Forum!

If I understand correctly, three subscriptions are established each time you make a purchase with a specific merchant. I'm sorry to hear that's happening; it would certainly frustrate me also. It sounds like the merchant has an integration issue with their subscriptions, and it would need to be investigated from their side. I would try letting them know it's happening by contacting them through the Messages option on your transaction or through their websites. (The Messages option may not be available on all transactions.)

When making your initial purchase, if the option to opt out of the subscription is available, it usually displays on the first or second screen of the checkout page. Some merchants provide the option, but others do not. You can cancel any unnecessary subscriptions by following these steps in our Help Center.

I hope this helps!

Thanks - I thought that would be the case.

Currently the vendor's checkout is rejecting my Paypal payments with an error "No Response or Unsuccessful Response from Paypal", but still adding three automatic payments entries. Very annoying.

I have contacted them, now waiting for a response.
