Can't add Paypal to GooglePay

I cannot add Paypal to my GooglePay, it says 'We're having trouble completing your request' whenever I click on 'GooglePay' in my wallet.

Sorry to hear that you're not able to your PayPal and Google Pay accounts. You can add PayPal to Google Pay through the Google Pay app or through the PayPal app. Please try clearing cache/cookies and also try using a different browser or device to see if this works.

You can try to add though the Google Pay app, log in to Google Pay and tap Add a payment method on the screen. Tap PayPal and follow the onscreen instructions to complete the setup.

I already tried this while setting up, did it again just now. It gives an error 'Couldn't finish setting up pay contactless' 'Something went wrong during your setup'

I have no idea why it can't be linked. Still trying though
