When does a negative balance affect my credit and will collections take any action before 120 days?

Hi, so I've incurred a substantial negative balance on Paypal which I fully intend to pay off.
My account has been in the negative for 48 days before I've been contacted by Moorcroft collections agency, even though the Paypal website states I have 120 days to resolve the balance. My account with Paypal is still open. I have a personal plan in place to resolve the balance well before the 120 days is up (half within the next 3 weeks and the other half within the next 7 weeks).
My question is, will this start affecting my credit score now, or will this collections agency take any action before I can pay off the negative balance?
Obviously being negative balance is on me, but I've also been mislead completely with the 120 days on Paypals website.
Any insight would be great. Thanks.
