Holding funds from sellers until the buyer leaves feedback is the worst idea EVER! Since when does Paypal become an authority on buyer satisfaction?? A smooth transaction is all that I wanted from Paypal. If they are going to hold funds, then they should make it very clear BEFORE you use them! Keeping my money in their account for 21 days is a HUGE disadvantage of using Paypal. Stick to transferring funds, not trying to be a satisfaction authority!

hey, its happening to just about all sellers, and everyone hates it. its Paypal's new policy for sellers to supposedly make sure we will have the money to refund our customers in case they request a refund - you know, so that we dont spend all the payment money, and then when buyer wants a refund, oops, dont have enough money to do it. even sellers with perfect feedback, fast shipping, and good service are having payments held (i am one of them). the hold is suppose to be for 21 days max., or until the customers receive the items and leave positive feedback, but its turning out that a lot of us are having to call paypal and let them know or remind them that the hold needs to be removed. you should read the paypal's policy for the holds, so that you can get all the details. and about your money transfer, Paypal is recently taking theyr sweet time to do a lot of things. maybe call them about it. sorry

I have a seller account, 100% positive since forever ago. But I've been too busy to sell anything in a long time. I was sent money by family members, mad money to send my daughter, who is on her senior trip abroad. No feedback to wait on, no possible refund to issue.
And they're holdng my money, too.
This is way beyond ridiculous. The days of money orders were easier and more dependable.
Now I have a daughter in Germany and $200 I can't send her until... When??? Seriously.
Thanks Paypal. This is so awesome.

Paypal sure is awesome. You all must love it so much thats why you continue to use it. Continue to agree to their terms of service and continue to complain.

Who said anything about continuing to use their service? Why should I?
This is the first time this has happened to me, on an account that is verified and YEARS in good standing.
No, thank you. No I won't be using PayPal once this transaction hits my bank.
No, I won't be recommending Paypal to anyone. Absolutely no chance of it.
I just wondered what was going on, came here for help, and found A MAJORITY of sellers and other Paypal users in GOOD standing who are having this exact issue. So I thought I should document my experience for future users who show up withthis problem. So they too will know they should find other selling options.
As well I have found NO END of snarky replies from people who should be offering some sort of help, or honest explanation. You just get off on being hateful to people. THESE ARE YOUR CUSTOMERS. This isn't BAD customer service.. It's the worst I have ever seen in action! The snide, snotty remarks, by people who obviously use this forum a great deal, are uncalled for. It's nasty. It is a poor representation of your company, which is already falling out of favor with it's customer base. It does nothing to endear users back to Paypal. It has certainly only served to make me dislike your service even more. If you are not Paypal representitives they should be moderating your hateful responses, because you are further hurting their credibility with their public.
As I said, I haven't sold anything recently. There is no transaction to default on. My daughter is overseas, and she NEEDS this money. We aren't rich people. We don't have a lot of money. We scrounged and took from our retirement to allow our daghter this chance to see the world for the summer. To know that there is more to life than staying around your home town and slaving away at whatever your parents did for a living.
I have rights to this money to send to her. It is mine. There is NO valid reason to withhold it from me, and if my daughter ends up in danger because of a lack of funds, you can bet your sweet **bleep** I will be naming Paypal at fault in that. Very publicly, very loudly, and very, VERY non-stop.
I hope everyone quits Paypal. You've gotten far too big for your britches.
You've become nothing more than any other deceitful banking industry.
And I hope you fall.

Oh good.... well, NOT good, but I DO feel better knowing I'm not alone with this issue. I would have a reasonable amount of understanding for sellers who are brand spanking new, have routinely terrible feedback, are not verified or verifiable, etc, etc. but geez, I've been here forever.
I'm going through a yucky divorce and this is my INCOME at the moment. My account is backed by my checking account so WHY hold my funds?
One of the "reasons" they list for holds is an "above average number of refunds" . Well, ya know what.... I fairly often do partial shipping refunds. I don't pack until the end and sometimes my guesstimates are off. If it's over a buck or so and I notice it, I will refund it. That puts me squarely in the "above average refund" category. So, I should be punished for being honest?
Paypal should be Paypal and eBay. Two separate entities.... If they are going to be so tied together, then Paypal should become "Ebay Pay" or something like that. I'm thinking specifically of the poster who wanted to get money to her daughter - that should have absolutely NOTHING to do with eBay.
While I'm on my soapbox.... Chargebacks.... I've never had a single one. I know personally of two and guess what, BOTH involved credit card fraud on the purchasing end which makes the CREDIT CARD COMPANY responsible and not the seller who faithfully listed, sold, shipped and then got stuck with the bill.
Now that my blood pressure is up I guess I will go do something constructive.

Glad to hear that most people hate this company's deplorable customer service. At least misery has company....i sympathize with nearly every one of these stories. I hope another entity takes Paypal over one day.

You weren't listening....I've never HAD a chargeback, and the two I know of through other users were because of FRAUD on the part of the BUYER, not the seller.
Not sure why I am even bothering to clarify...

You are that kid who sat and smiled while the teacher scolded the class about something you revealed to her in private. This kind of input is indeed snarky and classless. People have always had problems with Paypal. It's their calling card....awful customer satisfaction numbers. Any suggestion otherwise is a calculated attempt by Paypal to enhance their own reputation. And you....yikes....
