Holding funds from sellers until the buyer leaves feedback is the worst idea EVER! Since when does Paypal become an authority on buyer satisfaction?? A smooth transaction is all that I wanted from Paypal. If they are going to hold funds, then they should make it very clear BEFORE you use them! Keeping my money in their account for 21 days is a HUGE disadvantage of using Paypal. Stick to transferring funds, not trying to be a satisfaction authority!

Here's how I am handling the situation: when a buyer pays, I am sending them a note telling them that shipping may be delayed because Paypal is holding funds and that they can call me or Paypal for more information. So far, I've gotten a few "I understand" and one screaming buyer...who may leave negative feedback and make things worse (but at this point, and after all this abuse, I'm closing down shop shortly anyway). I have also written our state banking Regulator in Ohio upon advice from some sites I found Googling "Paypal holding funds." Paypal may not use the "B" word but they take money, charge fees and interest and invest funds that they hold. Sounds like a bank to me.

Welp, I'll be closing up shop. I've been on ebay since 2003, selling things from here to there. I'm not a hardcore seller, but more like a hobbyist. I just got a email about the 21 day hold starting in February 2012. Well, like most of you, I work for a living. So when I sell something, I expect to get paid immediately just like any other internet business. You can't tell Amazon you're going to hold your money for 21 days unless they ship to you fast enough.
I can't afford it.
I'm not racking in millions, or thousands. But I have 100% seller score and no negatives since 2003 (I only have 196 sales) and now I'm on paypal probation from my own hard earned money.
Goodbye Paypal and Ebay. Please expect my call on Monday to close up shop.

PS...I just noticed a seller that I buy from...207925 auctions...99.2 % positive feedback...still a top rated seller with no restrictions. I'm 99.5, had "power seller" status taken away and sanctions placed against my account by Paypal. It's obvious that the it's business as usual for the Ebay big players and persecution for the rest of us until we just get out of the way. Deano

I know if I call Paypal and complain they will give me super hassle like they always do. I tried emailing them, and as I suspected, I got an automated answer not answering my question or lifting this hold that doesn't belong. This is beyond stupid. I can't ship my package because Paypal is holding all of my money.

I'm in the same boat, hadn't used PP or Ebay in 5-6 yrs, was alot easier and cheaper back then, all pkgs I sold have been delivered except the one I sent today. Once I get rid of the things I'm selling I'm transferring my money to my bank and am done with Ebay and PP.

48 hours after I was told that my eBay sales history met the criteria to not be considered a high risk account, and that my account would be re-evaluated within 24 hours, PayPay (this was originally a typo, but I decided to leave it as it seems a more accurate name for the company) is still holding approximately $375 of *my* money. The funny thing is, they sent me a satisfaction survey this morning that implied that the issue had been resolved. Here's a bit of free advice PayPal: Actually resolve the issue before sending out a survey. You'll get more favorable results that way.

I just recieved one tenth of money owed to me now , for 26 days-2 days early! WHAAAAWHOOOO! Ain't that a hoot! I get 10 percent of the buck-a-roo's they have pocketed for a month- two big fat days early...go figure. Must of been a mistake. I better not point it out-they might accidently do it again, and then maybe I could PAY MY BILLS!!!! ALSO-they lifted my limit from a measly TEN items a month to 100, AND a measly 1,000.00 a month to 5,000.00 for sales, but NOW THEY SAY MY PAGE IS RESTRICTED from selling! So that big lifting of limits really helped...AND-if I dont find the girl who lived at this address (THREE YEARS AGO-no, I dont know how to reach her..I dont even know her ebay name..), I WLL BE SUSPENDED FOREVER! UNLESS I PAY HER BILL!!!!! Only beacuse she lived at the same address for a few years....I AM LIVID! I could (was) make a living off ebay, but obviously they dont care HOW much I can sell...or how fast...They are either inept or insane. MY record is not HER record, and the two have NOTHING to do with each other,, they have been messing with me since I joined, and I need the money more than I ever have in my life-my husband just died and I HAVE NOTHING BUT ITEMS to sell on eBay to live, until the probate is done....and they cut me off-I have perfect pretty high score so far too, and did so REAL FAST..SO WHY are they so ruthless??????? What a rotten pickel to be in! HELP! WHERE CAN I SELL MY STUFF?!

After a total of 4 phone calls and over 3 hours on the phone, I have given up. I have been a member of eBay for nearly 12 years, and a PayPal user for over 6 years. This month, PayPal started holding funds from items I have been selling. I have a perfect feedback rating. Every time I called PayPal, I got a different answer. Yesterday, after being told that it was eBay requesting that my funds be held, and not PayPal, I was transferred to an eBay customer support representative and told assured that the hold had been lifted from my account. This morning, I received an email from PayPal informing me that as of today, I would have a hold placed on my account. Understandably, I came unglued. When I spoke to PayPal, and explained all of my past conversations to customer support, their only response was that "yes, eBay has released the hold, but now PayPal is initiating a hold."
I spoke with several supervisors, and managers. Here's the bottom line: They can do whatever they want with your money. They can enact any policy they deem fit. Their only obligation to you the customer is to inform you after the fact. Needless to say, I'm done. Life's really too short to deal with this BS. I ended all of my active auctions (10 total) on eBay and cleaned out what funds I could from my PayPal account. I'm now waiting until February 7th so that I can get the last $250 out of my PayPal account, then I'm closing it.
I'm going to miss eBay and PayPal. It's a great concept. All of it that is except the part where they think its okay to crap all over their paying customers. I'm sure neither company will even realize I'm gone, but hopefully if at least one person will see this and avoid the frustration and confusion that I've had to deal with this past week.
