American Express gift card refunded but money isn't there

I bought an item on eBay with an amex gift card and the purchase was duplicated, leaving me with only $2.26 on the gift card. I contacted the seller and they canceled the purchase and issued a refund. Paypal says that the refund transaction is complete, but when i check my gift card balance online it is still at $2.26! Does anybody know what happened or how I can get my money back?

Unfortunately refunds to cards are not immediate, it can take up to two weeks for the credit to appear.

Thanks, do you know the average timeframe refunds are received in?

From our experience with credit cards, it's taken about a week and half.  Have not used prepaid cards but, would assume it to be similar.
