refund from paypal to my linked american express debit card???

Hello,

I paid for an item online.  I used my paypal balance and a linked american express debit card for the purchase...there was a problem with my order so the seller refunded part of the monies...the status from paypal says "completed" but it hasnt shown up in my american express account...i called american express to see if mabe they could see a transaction coming in from paypal and american express told me they couldnt tell because its a refund that i would have to contact paypal.....whats going on and how lon

g is this going to take before this is actually in my american express account?????...also i emailed paypal but havent got a response back yet.

If you funded the original paypal payment to the seller with a debit or credit card then it won't go back to your paypal balance.

Once marked as completed it will automatically go back to your bank account or credit card but takes up to a week to process through to the bank and a bit longer for a c.c (paypal say allow 30 days but I have never waited longer than a week for mine).
