Getting More Credit on PayPal Credit

I was just wondering if there's a way to get more credit than you have through PayPal somehow. I'm wanting to buy a laptop that is just under $1,000, but only have $500 PayPal credit. I know if you try buying something that is more than what you have, PayPal will look into giving you more credit, but what happens if you get declined? Do you have to pay full from a card that is on file or would it take out the $500 credit and then take off the difference with a card that is on file? Also, if you do get declined for more credit, do you have the option to cancel your order or will one of your cards on file automatically be charged anyways?

PayPal Credit is a separate business of PayPal.

I think it's best to understand your own credit history, earnings potential, percent to total available credit used (all accounts), credit score and other factors relating to your personal credit.  If your credit score is very high (above 750), your credit use is low (like 25% of credit available from all accounts), you have never been late in credit payments anywhere, you have a good chance of automatic increase to more credit.  If you are a slight credit risk, then not so likely.

I don't know how it works if you get declined at purchase, but I suspect it will simply be a deline and you will get a response from PayPal Credit a to the reason; PayPal Credit will likely do a hard credit check also.  When making any purchase there is generally a confirm button; my guess is that the confirm button will only be available if you are approved.  You could try and see how far it goes and you can still cancel.

It is probably best to call PayPal Credit and/or PayPal to ask what will happen specificially.
