Hi guys, need some help with texts I've been recieving.
Last night I recieved a text saying that my Paypal account had unauthorised access. It had a link in it, but I used my computer to log in the normal way. Everything looked normal, but I changed my password just in case, then again this morning I had another text saying that my paypal account had unauthorised access.
I've never recieved these texts before.
How can you tell if they are real? Does Paypal have a mobile number that they text you from when this really happens?
The exact wording of the message is:
Dear Nicole, we've detected unauthorised access to your Paypal account. Please log in at (address that has paypal in it, but not the normal one we use to log in) to unlock your account.

All the scammer needed was your cell number, not even your PayPal email address. The problem is that clicking or following the link is where you create your own problem. The scammers can send out thousands of almost random text messages and a response of just one is very profitable for the scammers. There are too many gullible text message recipients.

Thanks for the reply. Yeah, definetly changed my password and blocked the number sending me the messages. I guess I'll just avoid all messages like this in the future. It is weird how there's nothing about it here on paypal.

I suppose most users are smart enough to just ignore such messasges. It's not a group deal, just a matter of personal security management.
