Problems with primary phone

I'm trying to use another phone number as primary.

This in itself is hard since there's not option in the phone number manager to select a number as primary.

Luckily, somehow, my other number became primary (not sure how).

However, although Paypal does list my other phone as primary, when I try to reset my password, it wants to send a text message to my old phone number.

So I tried to delete the old phone number and I get this error:

"The characters you entered do not match the characters in the image. Please try again."

This is obviously a bug, since it does not show me a captcha when I try to delete the old phone number.

So, basically, there are two problems:

1- paypay doesn't respect my selection of a primary number

2- I can't delete a phnoe number to make the remaining one primary

I'm hoping some Paypal employee can ask for a fix.

When you add new number, it gives you the option to make the new number the primary number right there.  Read the text under the number field.  After you save/confirm the new number, then you can go to the old number to remove it.

What the user above is saying is that there's no captcha to generate the characters: The characters you've entered do not match the characters in the image. Please try again. I am also trying to change my number but you can't get past that screen. It's a catch 22. It's a bug. It's paypal like many other companies relying on volunteers like you to solve their problems rather than doing it for themselves. Well done (or rather, more fool) you.

This is still a bug. I logged into paypal to Change my phone number, and remove the old one, as I don't have that Cell # anymore. EVERY recapcha is wrong, wrong wrong I've tried spacing, I've tried to cap/lower case every letter, I've listened to it just to make sure I'm not scrweing up. and I still can't do anything. this needs to be fixed. I really don't like the idea someone else could be getting the text I need if anyone ended up with my old number.

Seeing the same issue.  Wondering if I should close my account since I can no longer send money because what the site thinks is my primary number is a work phone number from 2004.

This is still a bug... paypal, please listen to the community. there are many articles about this issue and it deserves a fix after literally about a year

hey, i figured a way to fix this **bleep**. just log onto paypal from your smartphone using the app and delete the old numbers from there. I was about to go on a rampage and eat the heart out of some poor customer service person until I thought I would try this first. it worked, thank god.

What on earth is going on? 3.5% transaction fee on every money movement but can't get a website working properly...
