Trainers of Ebay? Advice on what to do

Hi everyone. I will try make this as clear and short as possible. So I like my trainers and spend a lot of money on them. So i wanted a rare pair that can't be found in shops and went to ebay where I found a top rated seller, have seen feedback and everything is really good for the seller. I contacted the seller as they didn't have the pair I wanted in my size and was told they can order it in, so they sent me an invoice, I paid for the item. I was told right from the start it would take approx 2-3 weeks so I knew it would be a long wait, and also it wasn't trackable until it reached UK where the seller is, I was told all of this from the start so I knew.
I am now starting to get a little worried as this was something we did privately so no ebay listing, although I have the invoice in paypal and all email contact we have had as evidence. The seller does reply to me and told me recently that it they have got in touch and the trainers are still on their way could be anytime soon. I trust the seller but the wait has been a little longer then 2-3 weeks and I am starting to worry that the item will never come and as there is no ebay listing I may not get my money back in the case that I have been scammed. The seller has told me to be patient, but I feel as though I should contact paypal and just give a heads up to them as if I take too long to say something, they may say this is old news and we cant do nothing?

if asked tell them that you were almost out of time to raise a dispute for non receipt of item and you wanted to make sure you werent out of pocket. if there honest im sure they will understand

I have now completed the dispute letting the seller know it is a precaution and such, will await their reply and post back on this page as soon as the seller repies. I really appreciate the help from you guys, thanks a lot.

little update guys, so i emailed the seller the day i posted the topic up through the paypal dispute and prior to that I did send a email regarding feedback to the seller. No reply on both. I am going to wait today since it is a fresh week and maybe the seller was busy on the weekend. If the seller still does not reply I will raise the dispute to paypal either today at night or tomorrow. Seem right?

Another update, I was going to move the dispute to paypal and sent one last email to the seller, where they did reply they have receieved another package that was sent out the same time as mine and has arrived, mine should be soon they have said. Since I have started a dispute that is a extra 20 days so I am going to give the seller a couple month days in which case if I still don't have my package I will escalate
