How do I avoid the chargeback fee at ETS GRE fee payment from PayPal

  • How do I avoid the chargeback fee at ETS GRE fee payment as PayPal has refunded my amount back after filing a dispute for the additional charges charged for currency conversion?

  • After paying for my GRE test, I've noticed that I've paid almost Rs. 700/- extra due to the conversion charges through PayPal. I've contacted them asking to refund the extra charges incurred on my transaction. They've replied positively that they'll be refunding my amount back. and when I tried to access my scores today at ets.org/gre, it is asking me to pay an extra $30 USD for the chargeback fee service charge in addition to $213 USD. I'm confused by seeing this. Is there any possibility that I can avoid this chargeback fee as my transaction neither got denied nor I've not paid them?

  • The funny part is that I've asked them to refund the amount for charging Rs. 700/- extra. But now I've to pay almost Rs. 2200($30 USD). Can anyone help me with this?

Hello @hi_im_mohan

Welcome to the Community!

It sounds like the fee you've mentioned is an additional fee the merchant is adding to your purchase. To see if this fee can be waived, I recommend contacting the merchant directly. Since you have a previous purchase with them, you may be able to find their contact information listed on your transaction details. If it doesn't show there, you'll want to review their website.

I hope this helps!
