Robot Vacuum Scam

I purchased a Robot Vacuum after watching a video about the vacuum on Facebook.  The video showed that the vacuum had a docking station and was able to detect obstacles and stairs with sensors as well as navigating through out the house on a grid like pattern.  The product I received was 1.2 pounds, did not have a docking station, only had a usb cord and could be battery operated.  I have disputed this item because the seller (MEGADEALS, LTD.) will not refund my money.  I have not used the product at all.  PayPal has denied my claim stating that there is no "SIGNIFICANT" difference.  The robot vacuum shown in the video that then linked you to Megadeals, Ltd... showed a vacuum that was 14.37 pounds.  There is a SIGNIFICANT difference in what was shown in the video compared to what I received.  Now MEGADEALS has removed all of their content adds from Facebook as well as the video of the "false" vacuum they were "pretending to sale".  I do not agree with PayPal's decision.  I have came across many other people who have purchased this same item and used PayPal and they have been refunded.  What do I need to do to get my money back.

Paypal buyer protection is not a 100% guarantee or warranty.

They provide some buyer and some seller protection.

In the event of an item received but not as described dispute the item has to be 'significantly' other than described, you ordered a vacuum and received a vacuum and in paypals judgement it was not significantly other than described.

Personally Social Media that never vet sellers should always be a concern as its normally Great piccys / cheap prices + no return address + no contact info apart from an website email = Chinese cheap tat.

If you funded your paypal payment via a card (always a must in my opinion as it gives you a second layer of protection) then try a chargeback?

I requested a dispute a couple of days ago, The automated response from PayPal indicates in order to obtain my refund, I must return on "my own cost". By no means does this seem fair to purchase an item for 200$, in results the scam items are valued no more than $35 Total (eBay comparison), and pay around $60 to ship it to a "different country" than whence it came from. Such scams should hit loss on there own accord in order to stop practices  that attempt to play a "loop-hole" in the pay-pal policy. If the buyer drops all source of info thru-out the site in which the purchase was made (liked to paypal purchase). Should they lose all accountability to dispute return costs and take full responsibility (pending circumstances). Who is to say someone were to purchase a Rolex watch only to receive a generic Casio watch... Elephant in the room is the best way to put it. When it comes to scammers exploiting the PayPal automated dispute  system. help/observation to obtain the oversight, return costs are only questionable with out of county. I believe it should be equal to that of USA Sellers on these notes.

I had the same problem. The company initially offered me a partial refund, (and allowed me to keep the worthless item) which i refused, then i contacted PayPal and escalated the claim. The company then doubled their offer, which i again refused, then PayPal obtained a full refund on my behalf, but i had to pay the return postage, which was excessive. I then called PayPal and discovered that they will refund the shipping amount but you must get a receipt from the PO and also take a photo of the parcel before posting with the address on. You will fi d this information on the Activity Page. You need to click on the transaction and then click on return shipping refund. This is probably too late for you as i just noticed that you posted this in May, but it may help others and might help you another time.

Good gawd. So many people bought that $39.90 RoboClean and got a piece of junk that looked nowhere near the original. Same here. Disputed and seller offered $20. I declined offer and hope PayPal refunds full or else I’ll do chargeback. Good thing I charged to my American Express card as they’re the best in dealing with chargebacks. But someone here says to wait till seller responds after I’ve declined their offer. With postage, it’s $47.85 out of my pocket. Will PayPal refund the postage?

The company I bought it from is called onesgos.com via FB but the trading company is in Hong Kong. I’ve also made a formal complaint with the Hong Kong Consumers Association.

Kudos appreciated..

Unfortunately my supposedly top of the line robot was 80 bucks. Never got anything back and I just trashed the paper weight that China sent me. Waste of money. Lesson learned...never buy anything from a sponsored Facebook add again. Wishing you all the best with getting your money back.

PayPal agreed to refund me in full.

By the sellers emails they didn’t even request for me to send back the item because it’s not even worth their while.

Lesson learned. Never buy anything off of social media. Tell your friends!

Kudos appreciated..

I received an alert about a charge on my account. I called PayPal immediately the disputed charge. They claimed it was only a pending charge and that an order is filled. I should wait until I received a product and then dispute it. I received two boxes from a company called Jin Tai in California. I only opened one to see what it was; ObowA1 robotic vacuum. There was no return address label and no bill of lading inside. I disputed the charge with PayPal just now. No point in explaining why they are junk. The only item I could find online exactly the same was $35 each. I was charged $175.90.

Vacuum and drone scams are wide spread. It seems pay-pal purchase protection does not help fully when sellers scams buyers by "bait and switch" schemes. Expensive return shipping is enforced on buyers to either discourage them to accept a partial refund offer or frustrate the buyers in pursuing the wrongdoing by the seller.   No doubt, Amazon is #1 trading company in the world where customers are fully protected against any fraud and scam. Customers get what they are shown in the listing and they pay for.   Now coming to what you get when you buy a vacuum online from a company (In my case it was Order plus Sun Joy China or Top Topy China) thinking that your interests are fully protected by payment portal's protection plan.   The fancy high tech vacuum robot claiming mopping, vacuum, docking, self cleaning function has no mopping action, in the name of vacuum has a small  plastic fan which can barely lift dust from floor and then try to discharge on the side with out any filtering. its like just changing the location of dirt fro one place to another place. I looked very hard inside to find a filter but was not surprised to find any in the whole robot. Talk about laser guidance, you will find no electronics inside the plastic shell sold to you as a vacuum hi-tech robot.
